The Theatro Municipal de São Paulo Foundation was established by the Law 15.380 of May 27 2011 and regulated by decree nº 53.225, of June 19. The Statute offers a new administrative format: a Public Law Foundation linked to the Municipal Department of Culture, that includes managerial organs, the Deliberative Council and Fiscal Council in its organisational structure.
With the Foundation, the TMSP gets to be more autonomous when it comes to the administrative, financial, patrimonial and artistic fields – a necessary achievement for the development of excellence in an artistic project. Some of the institutional responsibilities of the Foundation include: the maintenance of the Theatro’s historical builiding, the Praça das Artes and the Technical Center; and the management of the municipal schools of dance and music as well as some of the most important artistic groups: the Municipal Symphony Orchestra of São Paulo, the São Paulo City Ballet, the São Paulo City String Quartet, the Municipal Lyrical Choir of São Paulo, and the Choir of São Paulo. To manage all of the Theatro’s activities, the Social Organization Instituto Odeon was hired through a public selection.
The resources that form the Foundation’s revenue comes from the São Paulo City Hall budget, the sale of products, educational and cultural services, ticket sales, accords, donations, sponsorships, and others.
Under the general management of Patrícia Maria de Oliveira, the Deliberative Council is presided by the Municipal Secretary of Culture, as well as elected members. The Fiscal Council is made up of titular and alternate members, named by the Municipal Department of Finances, as well as elected members among the Foundation workforce.
